I saw some memories of his, Ja'far.

I'm sure his story is tragic, but that does not change what he has done, or what he continues to do. He has done unspeakable things, Aspen, and finds it fun.

[ He has to swallow his words. But wasn't that him, all over? He wonders, if Ja'far had been the one to judge him, if he ever would've had the chance to start over. He knows he doesn't know everything - can't have - but that also means Ja'far doesn't know all about him.

What he does note, however, is how tired Ja'far sounds. If he were younger... maybe he'd try to argue here and now, but he can tell this isn't the time. ]

I... look. I am not going to be able to say anything good about Judar. Ever. He has threatened Sin, myself, and our country most of the time we have known him. I know I cannot be objective towards him, nor do I care to be when he has shown no reason for me to change my mind about him. I just do not want you or anyone else hurt. Not again.

If... inviting him is important to you, I will discuss it with Sin. He'd want to know, too.

There's no need. I won't invite him.

[ Aspen hesitates - ]

I simply... want to give him a second chance - not on your behalf, not on Sindria or Sinbad's behalf. Just for himself.

You saw many things from my past, but not the blood that stained my hands, not the way Belias washed them clean by giving me a second chance. If I could find another life... I want to give others the option too. I want to see others find another way.
